Risen Community Church has been part of my life for over 30 years. It’s more than a building—it’s home. Over the years, I’ve served in just about every way you can imagine: mowing the lawn, fixing what’s broken, helping with finances, and doing the behind-the-scenes things that most people never see. I’ve served on the church board multiple times, and I’m honored to currently serve as both a board member and Treasurer.
I’ve always believed that if something needs to be done, and I can help, then that’s what I’m here for. I don’t need a spotlight—I’d rather be out in the shed repairing something or checking that the air conditioning is working before Sunday morning. I find a lot of joy in knowing that my work helps create a space where people can focus on worship and community without distraction.
One of the greatest blessings of my life is seeing my family continue to grow in this church. Watching my daughter and son still walk through these doors—and now bring my grandkids with them—means the world to me. There’s something special about seeing your family stay rooted in the same church that helped shape your own faith.
Risen has given so much to me and my family over the years. I just hope, in my own quiet way, I’m giving a little something back.
